Young Carers
We are here to ensure the needs of all children are being met and recognising what those needs are. Sometimes it could be that we feel a child might be a 'Young Carer.' There is a local service that we signpost families to if we feel they would benefit from their support: Surrey Young Carers which can be found here.
They do so many great things for children, providing support and opportunities for children/young people to have some fun and to meet others in similar situations.
At school we run our Young Carers group which the children have themselves named as 'Carer Kids.'
We currently have nine children from years 3 to 6 who meet once a half term to have some fun with our Home School Link Worker.
A Young Carer doesn't have to be actually doing things such as cleaning, meal prepping or chores, it can be how their circumstances are affecting their emotional, physical or social well-being that would benefit from being supported by Young Carers. The person the Young Carers 'cares' for doesn't even need to live in the family home, it could be a close relative that they frequently see.
