Testimonials and Parent Voice

Give your views on our school

Parents and carers can give their views of our school at any time throughout the school year, using an online questionnaire called Parent View.

When our school is notified of our next Section 5 Ofsted inspection, parents will be specifically invited to give their views about the school to inspectors, using the Parent View facility.

It is simple to register with an email address. Once your login has been activated, it only takes a few minutes to complete some pre-determined questions and to enter any free text that you may wish to add.

Your views are important in helping us to know what is going well and what could be improved. Thank you.

Parent Testimonials

We are always grateful to receive feedback and appreciate the time that people take to let us know if there are things we could do better, or if there are things that we are doing right.  Here is a selection of some of the positive comments we have received about our practice:

We welcomed an autistic speaker into school for a talk with Years 5 and 6. Joe James is an autistic photographer who grew up in Dorking and regularly visits primary schools to talk about his experiences growing up and how it is living with autism as an adult. We were keen to raise the profile of autism and introduce children to a positive role model.

Our daughter was practically fizzing with enthusiasm and could not stop talking about how good the assembly was! She said that Joe was amazing and funny, and she wished she could have listened to him talk for the whole day. She found it all so inspirational and for me, hearing her tell me such positive things about an adult's experiences with autism was so heartwarming and reassuring. It gives me hope for her little brother and for his future. Thank you so much for doing this for the children and for the autism community. This will always be one of the highlights for our daughter when she looks back on her time at The Weald!

As a parent of an autistic child, I just had to write to say that I absolutely LOVE that you are doing this, for autism, and for the children. I wish all schools would follow suit. Appreciating and understanding difference is such an important lesson for us all to learn, and I am so grateful that you are giving autism a voice. It feels like the start of something amazing at The Weald! Thank you doesn't go far enough.

I’m just emailing to say what a good idea having Joe come in to the school. Our son hasn’t stopped talking about him since I picked him up he has told me how having autism isn’t a problem it’s a difference. I tell our son this but it seems hearing it from Joe has really made a big difference.

would like to say how wonderful every member of the School Staff have been during the years that my two Sons have attended. In particular the past year when we have been faced with this awful time of uncertainty due to the pandemic.

The Staff have done a great job in keeping the school safe. They have consistently provided a welcoming, fun, and secure environment for the children so that they can continue to learn and achieve to a high standard during very challenging times.

My Son attends while I work at a local preschool and he enjoys his time here immensely. Every day he comes home full of amazing new facts which he has learnt from his teacher.

Communication has been 100% and as parents we are kept up to date with every thing that is going on within the school community. There are always new ideas, activities and challenges for the children to get involved with whether they are learning from home or at school and there seems to be a huge effort to try and make all the children feel part of the school even when they cannot attend due to lockdown.

The staff are always bright and happy and the leadership appears to be very good. The office staff are always so helpful with any queries you may have and will go above and beyond to help put your mind at ease if any problems should arise.

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at The Weald. Our daughter is so happy at school and we are so pleased with the level of her learning. She is enjoying being challenged and is teaching us lots of facts too! We know how hard the team is working. We are recommending the Weald to anyone who asks us!

I write to congratulate you on the excellent home learning provision during the first ‘full week’ of term. We have been very impressed with how the school has responded at incredibly short notice and recognise that this will of been at the personal expense of all staff - evenings, weekends, late nights and early mornings - despite their own personal challenges in dealing with lockdown.

I have found the staff at the school exceptionally understanding of my family's diversities and extremely supportive of the emotional wellbeing of my child. I cannot praise the Headteacher's leadership of the school enough. His communication with the parents since he started has been outstanding and he is a real asset to the school.

We are so impressed with The Weald and everything our daughter has experienced has been so positive she longs to be at school even at the weekends! This is the biggest accolade... Happy children who are desperate to be at school. If the children were Ofsted Inspectors then you get top marks, and really they are the only ones who should have an opinion!

Our son is happier here coming into Year 3 than he has ever been at school and I'm amazed at how quickly he had settled. We are absolutely delighted.

I'm so pleased with how our son has settled in. For a child with ASD and high levels of anxiety, this is the best he has settled into a school year. Thanks for all the work the school has done.

You have dealt with the Covid situation 'amazingly' and both our daughters are very happy to be back and have settled in very well. The school is very well organised in all matters and we are so impressed.

We looked round several schools before choosing the Weald for our son for year 3 and we felt that this school would meet his needs best. The SENDCo is wonderful.

I’ve just returned home to find a postcard has been delivered! Our son will be over the moon when I show him at pick up. We are extremely proud of him. This is a wonderful idea and we would like to the thank the school for sending out such lovely notes, it really adds to their sense of achievement and helps to reinforce positive attitudes to learning.

My child came from a feeder school in September and WOW, I am  so happy now!  He has continued to improve on a similar trajectory in his lessons, but the most impressive change has been in his social interactions.   He joined the Weald as a very shy and sometimes embarrassingly quiet boy.  He wouldn't talk to his hairdresser or dentist without our interjection, nor would he dare ask an adult a question or answer one.  Over the last few months we have noticed a significant change, he will now respond and engage in conversation, and so many people have commented on how he has come out of himself.  It's a complete joy to watch, the pinnacle, and prompt for this email, was that he sang a solo line at the KS2 performance.

I recently witnessed an interaction between a member of staff and a child, and I get the feeling that you do indeed nurture our children to the best of your ability.

I wanted to let you know that right now, certainly for us, The Weald is doing a great job and I wanted you to know that!  On the recent school visit, the mails saying the pupils had arrived safely and had then boarded the return coach safely as well was a lovely touch.
