The children had such a wonderful time at The Weald Royal Wedding banquet - as a sign of our gratitude we bought flowers for all the fabulous helper mummies, grannies and granddads who came in and gave their time to organise the event. Thank you FOTW. We are always so grateful for all the effort you put in to give our children such fun events and life-long memories.
  • Year 6 enjoy their treat courtesy of Go-Ride

Tue 22 May 2018 Debs Mansfield

Year 6 have been enjoying a well-earned post-SATs treat this week, courtesy of Keith Reed from British Cycling. They will be outside every day this week learning cycling skills and making the most of our wonderful grounds.

Whether it’s a spin in the back garden, splashing through puddles in the park or tearing around a local pump track: cycling is an essential part of growing up.

Embracing this approach, the HSBC UK Go-Ride programme was created - with over 350 children’s cycling clubs helping thousands of young people enjoy the freedom of cycling and develop lifelong skills.

  • In at the deep end

Tue 22 May 2018 Debs Mansfield
Well done to our 4 Year 5 swimmers who represented The Weald Primary School at the Dorking Schools Partnership Swimming Gala on 21st May. They were thrown in at the deep end, having to learn the rules of the gala very quickly before then competing in their heats. They had to learn complicated starts, the rules of the relay races, and what all the different whistles mean which just added to their nerves, but they pulled together and did us proud. Pictured are Olivia Trenchard who competed in the Jumbo Relay, Emmy Myles who did the 25m Butterfly and 2 relay races, Ethan Harrington-Benton who did 25m backstroke and the Jumbo Relay, and Georgie Davis who did 25m front crawl and 2 relay races. We are still waiting for the results to come through, but well done all of you for swimming your socks off. Thank you to Mrs Brown from St John's Primary School who took our children in a joint Weald and St John's venture.
  • A Mile a Day...keeps the doctor away!

Tue 22 May 2018 Debs Mansfield

We're delighted to announce that The Weald Primary School will be making the most of our extensive grounds this week, and encouraging the whole school to walk or run a whole mile every day. It's Walk to School Week, and we're aware that as a a school a lot of our children come from neighbouring villages and would struggle to walk to school each day. So instead we're going to make the most of the nice weather, and get out for a stroll in our grounds. The Daily Mile has all sorts of benefits... here are the five Fs.

Fitness - children become more aware of a healthy lifestyle.

Fresh air - children thrive on sights, sounds and seasons.

Friends - children use the language of friendship to support each other, improving their social and leadership skills.

Fun - children enjoy taking part which is what makes the Daily Mile so successful.

Focus - daily physical activity helps children concentrate in the classroom and is proven to improve attainment.

If you have any questions please contact the school office.

Mon 21 May 2018 Debs Mansfield

Well done to all of Year 6 who showed wonderful levels of concentration, determination and maturity during their SATs week. We are all incredibly proud of each and every one of you. They earned themselves a lovely treat of chocolate sundaes in the sunshine to relax after all the hard work. We are sure you have all done your best and used all of your Habits of Mind.

  • The Weald Royal Wedding

Mon 21 May 2018 Debs Mansfield
A big thank you to Friends of the Weald who organised the wonderful Royal Wedding Buffet, and to the kitchen who provided fabulous buffet food for our children. The hall looked amazing decked out in bunting, and all the red, white and blue finery, and the children all looked suitably festive in their mufti outfits. The afternoon was spent on the field with loads of 'It's a Royal Knockout' games for the children to enjoy, and much hilarity and fun was had by all. We hope the event will be something the children remember for years to come.
